If you are used to travelling around the world, you must have come across many beautiful places which are mesmerising and breath-taking. However, there are some places in this world where they have constructed long and scary bridges in order to connect two different places. You need to hold your heart in place whenever you will cross them and I am sure not everyone will be as courageous as required to cross them. But, I will advise everyone to at least try crossing one of the scariest bridges at least once in your life just for the feel of it and have a rush of adrenaline pumping withing your body. Hold your breath and fears and let us cross the worlds most scariest bridges at one go.
1. Royal Gorge Bridge, USA.
The Royal Gorge Bridge is one of the highest and most scariest bridges among the twenty bridges found in the United States. If ever you are going to Colorado, then definitely, this best tourist attraction you will ever find there. What’s also nice is that that you can enjoy 360 degree jaw dropping rides.
Little piece of history: The width at the bottom of the Gorge is only 40 to 50 feet across, but the Arkansas River continues to carve to this day, increasing the Royal Gorge’s 1,000+ foot depth by about one foot every 2,500 years.

2. Lake Ponchartrain Causeway Bridge, USA.
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, sometimes only the Causeway, is a fixed link composed of two parallel bridges crossing Lake Pontchartrain in southern Louisiana, United States. The longer of the two bridges is 23.83 miles long. Drive safely in your car whenever you cross this bridge unless you want to swim with the fishes.
Additional information: The Causeway bridge has even been mentioned in the Guiness Book of World Records as the longest continuous bridge passing over the waters of New Orleans’s Lake Pontchartrain.
Please note that you cannot see land in the horizon as the bridge is so long, which makes it real scary.
3. Deception Pass Bridge, Washington.
The name of the bridge itself reveals some mysteries, which makes it real scary. Well, as a matter of fact, I don’t want add fuel to the fire, but since the scary bridge was opened, approximately 425 people have taken their own lives by jumping from one of the bridges. Kinda scary story for this beautiful place!
However, you should not discourage yourself from visiting this place since those people who did suicide wanted to end their lives leaving away from their problems, but if you are not one of them, then Deception Pass is the bridge to go and visit.
4. Captain William Moore Bridge, USA.
When I first heard the name of this bridge, it really intrigued me, because maybe there was a scary story behind it – like a captain who died there after doing something nasty. Well, let me reassure you, there is no dreadful story behind the name. In fact, it was named after Captain William Moore, who was a pilot, prospector, packer, trader and riverboat captain. He played an important role in the founding of Skagway and helped pioneer the route over White Pass. Captain Moore was one of the first people to realize the potential for a railroad over the pass.
Important piece of information: Just wanted you people to be cautious if you feel like crossing on that bridge one day, because the bridge has been there for 41 years and is nearing its end of life according to this article and needs to be replaced. We don’t know what just might ever happen when you cross this 17 km bridge.
5. Austrian Road Bridges, Kazakhstan.
Austrian road bridge in Kazakhstan is the worst bridge to cross with your car, that is because it looks very old and at first sight, it does not seem to be in good condition. It was built by Austrian POW’s during World War 1 in 1915, and is a marvel of engineering located in the Altai Mountains of East Kazakhstan. The road is 60km (5 hours) long and climbs several mountain passes, including Burkhatskiy Pass at 2.137 m (7,011 ft) above the sea level and Alatajsky Pass, at 1.792 m (5,879 ft).
6. Aiguille du Midi Bridge, France
This is by far the worst feeling of dizziness you will experience as you cross this amazing bridge in France. You need to keep your eyesight parallel to the panoramic view in front of you. Don’t even do the mistake of looking down, otherwise you will experience weakness in your knees and you will sit down automatically. If you are afraid of heights, don’t even think of going there and anyways, you need to go through a cable car which climbs up to 9,200 vertical feet in 20 minutes as the site is located 12,605 feet above sea level at the summit of Aiguille du Midi in the Mont Blanc massif near Chamonix..
7. Hussaini Hanging Bridge, Pakistan
It really needs lots of courage to cross that scary suspension bridge. Looking at the state of it in the picture, it does not look so convincing to go across it. While rickety cable and wood bridges are common in this area, crossing this bridge over the rapidly flowing Hunza River is particularly frightening, as the tattered remains of the previous bridge hang by threads next to the one currently in use.
Stats: Floodwaters reportedly submerged the bridge in May 2010. However, due to its draw as a popular adventure-travel activity, the bridge is likely to be rebuilt.
8. The Storseisundbrua, Atlantic Highway, Norway
This bridge is just like a leap into the emptiness and is the longest of the eight bridges that make up the Atlanterhavsveien (“The Atlantic Road”), the road connection from the mainland Romsdal peninsula to the island of Averøya in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway near to the Atlantic Ocean. You definitely need to try to cross this scary bridge with your car. Here is a little video of how it feels crossing that bridge.
Facts: Over the six years that it took to construct, workers struggled with the region’s wild weather and were interrupted by twelve hurricanes.
9. Le Passage du Gois, France.
Passage du Gois is a natural passage with a length of 4,3km (2.58-miles), located in the Atlantic coast of France in the Vendée department and is considered as a bridge leading to the island of Noirmoutier in France. It is flooded twice a day by the high tide. Pack an inflatable boat for driving this 4.3km road because just say for some crazy reason you mix up the tide times, then – like vehicles in the past – you might disappear beneath the salty brine. Trucks and buses can drive only in one direction, from the mainland to the island. At high tide, this road lies under 1.30 meters to 4 meters of water. Covered by the sea twice a day, this paved road is littered with seaweed in places and can be particularly slippery.

10. Mount Titlis, Switzerland
The highest suspension bridge in Europe, thanks to it’s staggering 3,000 metre height, the Titlis Cliff Walk Bridge is located in the Alps. It opened in 2013, is designed to withstand snow storms and extreme winds (apparently it’s super safe) and offers spectacular views. Watch out your steps as you go across the bridge and don’t look down just for safety reasons. I definitely would not want to try that even though a part me wants to go just to know it feels and looks.
